A Changing EV Landscape in Washington for Developing Properties

Effective until 3/15/2024 (Applies to the construction of new buildings)

10% of parking spaces shall be provided with EV Charging Infrastructure (Panels, breakers, conduit, and wire).

Electrical rooms must be sized to accommodate the potential for electrical equipment and distribution required to serve a minimum of 20% of the total parking spaces with 208/240 V 40-amp, circuit or equivalent EV charging infrastructure.

Infrastructure Requirements: Effective 3/15/2024

Buildings shall provide EV charging stations at 10% of total stalls (rounded to the nearest whole number), and an additional 10% of total stalls must be either EV capable or EV ready (also rounded to the nearest whole number).

Electrical service and the electrical system, including any on-site distribution transformers, shall have sufficient capacity to simultaneously charge all EVs at all required EVCSs, EV-ready parking spaces, and EV-capable parking spaces at a minimum of 40 amps each.
